Warriors Arise: January 25, 2021
Daniel 5:6-8 (NKJV) Then the king's countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other. 7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.” 8 Now all the king's wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation.
The underlined part of verse 7 has why the king felt like he had to offer a reward. Did he trust the astrologers, the Chaldeans, or the soothsayers? Why would they withhold the interpretation from him? I guess, I thought, since he is the king, they would do what he asked. I would think they could see he was seriously out-of-sorts. His countenance had completely change from the festive party pleasures to someone whose knees were knocking. It could very well put one in a terrible situation if the king felt like they were withholding something from him.
Maybe he saw the terror on their faces as it was explained to them how the writing got on the wall. He might have needed to give a bountiful reward so he would get a favorable interpretation. Therefore he coaxed them with a reward. He wanted the interpretation to go in his favor.
Have you been in a situation where someone wanted the truth from you but you were not sure if they could handle the truth? Maybe they would be upset with you if you told them the truth. They might assure you that they can handle whatever you answer you share, because they say they trust you.
I have been in that situation and sometimes it works out while other times it does not. Generally, I am praying the entire time. I am not sure the friendship or mentoring will endure what they are asking. But since they are asking, I am bound to answer. Then I am praying for an accurate answer that will be received. I can only get an accurate answer to give when I seek God. While they are asking me and assuring me that they want to know what I think; I am praying. I am not sure they can handle it and I really enjoy the friendship or I enjoy mentoring them. Pressing into God, what He would say to their question is what I want to give. My view may be bias or skewed so if they really need an accurate answer, it has to come from God. I can't be so clingy to our friendship or mentoring that I will not deliver what they need to hear. Therefore, what I say must be what God would tell them.
We are to be prepared to give an answer because we are filled with the Word of God. We are also to have conditioned our ears to hear God's voice and know what He is saying, specifically. The game changer is God. He is the difference between Christians and the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. He is the difference between man's best understanding and God' infinite wisdom. God will speak to us when we seek Him and sometimes even when we don't ask Him. He wants us to know how to guide people to the plans He has for them. He wants His people to prosper and live in the fullness of the destiny He has dreamed for them.
Father, I pray we would be filled with Your love. Your Word says we are to be prepared to give a word in due season. The only way to be prepared is to know Your voice, how You speak to us, and Your Word. I open my ears to hear Your voice. I open my mind to receive the truth of Your Word. If there is anything in my past that has caused me to misinterpret Your love, Your ways, Your Word please come and make the change. I want to give people the answer You are writing on their wall. I want to give the answer with Your heart of compassion, love, and empowerment. If it is time for a change in their life, I pray they would be ready to receive Your word,as truth and apply it to their life. You are amazing in all of Your ways. I haven't always wanted to hear the truth because I didn't want to make the change to live in Your perfect plan for my life. I haven't always wanted to acknowledge Your Word, to make it the rock upon which I stand. I seek to hear Your voice and I will listen. I search to understand Your Word and I will follow. You set me in position to fulfill the plans You dreamed I would live. I pray I would be honest with people when they ask the difficult questions. I pray I would not be afraid to lose them as a friend when I share Your truth. I pray I would know Your wisdom and speak it clearly. I pray it would resonate with them and they would make the change needed to walk in the plans You have for them in Jesus' name amen.
