When I Say All, I Mean ALL

Warriors Arise: March 14, 2021

Daniel 6:9 (NKJV) Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.

I remember hearing my Dad talk about a particular Scripture. It started with "therefore" and before Dad went further he looked at us and said, "When you see a therefore, you need to pay attention to what is is there for". In this case, as we have seen in the last two day, King Darius has been lured by the lies of the governors and satraps standing before him. Look in verse 7 what they told him.

Daniel 6:7 (NKJV) All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree...

All, when someone uses all they lead you to believe it is everyone. In this case they say it is ALL the governors of the kingdom, ALL the administrators. .ALL the satraps, ALL the counselors and ALL the advisors. But it wasn't all. They used a word in order to have more weight to what they were about to share, what they needed him to buy into. They brought a large enough personhood to make it seem like they were just the delegate of the entire group.

We throw words like always, all, never, and ever, around to try and have more pull. We want what we are saying to seem bigger than what it really it. Yes, they got what they wanted. King Darius signed the decree. But when we look into the rest of history we see that when we get what we really want through lies instead of being excellent in our work and character things don't end up too well.

The problem with using words like always and never when it isn't true something changes in us. It is as if we bit on a lure of lies and begins to speak like this in every situation. We go into a something saying you always... or you never... when the truth is that they only did or didn't do a couple of times. When we allow our mind to embrace the lie, try to accuse someone of something that isn't true. Oddly, we believe the lie as truth and the individual has tremendous difficulty revealing the truth and bringing balance to the accusation.

It is ok to bring up specific instances and how what they did hurt you or discouraged you but it is not ok to use always or never when that isn't the truth. Verse 9 started of with therefore and a law is written. It is a law he will soon regret because he was lied to. You would think because it began with a lie the law would not be validated. But there is nothing about the lie that got him to sign the law on the document. So the law remains. The document isn't invalid only the words that were said to get the decree signed into law.

Know the truth.

John 8:31-32 (NKJV)Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Speak the truth.

Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV) but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

Live the Truth

Psalms 15:2 (NKJV) He who walks uprightly,

And works righteousness,

And speaks the truth in his heart;

Father, I ask for You to come and cleanse my lips. I ask for You to speak to my mind. If there is any thinking lining up with the lies of always, all, never or ever will You remove them. I pray for the truth to straighten out the lie. I pray my mind to receive the truth and to live in the fullness of what is right, noble, and true. I do not want to lead people into believing something is an always when it only happened once or twice. I want to be person of integrity and my words to be honoring to You and to others. I do not want to mislead others by exaggerating the truth. You are good and Your ways are a demonstration of Your love. I ask for You to come and minister to my mind. I ask for purity to sweep through my mind and Your kindness to be in every fiber of my body. I pray I would believe in the good of others. When they do something that bothers me I will either let it go or pray they will make a change. If they do not change I will make the choice to love them anyway. I pray You would bring Your people together in perfect love to speak encouragement and build each other up to advance Your kingdom here on earth in Jesus' name amen.
