Warriors Arise: September 16, 2020
John 21:6-7 (NKJV) And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.
I wonder why John did not say, "It is Jesus!" Maybe he did not want to mix words. They may have known several by the name of Jesus. But there could be no mistake in who he was referring to when he told Peter, "It is the Lord!".
Their hands, arms and whole body were pulling in a miracle. Again they were part of another miracle the Lord was performing. Their hands had been a part of the miracle of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes. Jesus blessed the 5 loaves and 2 fish which multiplied to feed 5,000 men plus women and children. The disciples passed the baskets around to all the people. After the people had their fill Jesus instructed the disciples to pick up the baskets. There were 12 baskets of leftovers. Now, the disciples who had been casting the net all night long with no results, at the word of the Lord a great multitude of fish were on the right side of the boat where they had been told to cast the net. There were so many fish the disciples struggled to get the net into the boat.
Lord, Strong's definition, supreme authority, controller, having the respectful title of Master. There would be no mistake to whom John was referring when he told Peter, "It is the Lord!" The one who can make something out of nothing could only be one person, the Lord. The one person who could bring complete success out of an absolute failure, the Lord. The one who with His very presence sets people at ease (Zacchaeus, the woman at the well) and causes the enemy to want to run (the demons in the demoniac asking Jesus to release them), the Lord. The one who spoke with authority and people listened, the Lord.
"It is the Lord", John says to Peter, the supreme authority, the one who controls the wind, waves and fish, our Master. He has given us everything, prepared us to spread the Gospel, honors us with His presence, and provides for us with His love. It is the Lord.
I imagine as John says this and Peter makes the connection, flashes of meaningful moments with Jesus flashed through his mind. And He knows, John is right, "It is the Lord!". This cast, this catch was not a random act, it was set in place by the word of the Lord. The Lord said, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish." (v.7) There could be no mistake; it is the Lord on the shore.
Have you known a time in your life where you knew the Lord was in your midst? He spoke to you or the impression you got was strong and so specific that there was no doubt, the Lord was there, gave you the instruction, guided you through a situation. This is what we are praying today. For the Lord to speak, people to do as He instructs and people to recognize, "It is the Lord!".
Father, I am asking for the Lord to walk into the rooms of the police officers who have been shot. I am asking for the Lord to touch their bodies and make them whole again. The doctors have done all they can do. I ask for You to intervene. I ask for the Lord to show up, instruct the doctors in what they are to do. I pray for the doctors to respond like the disciples, no questions asked, they just do what the Lord has said. I pray for full recovery for each officer who has been wounded in the line of duty and for their families to know You, receive Your comfort and strength. I ask each one would see You extending Your love to them. I pray for the Lord to be with each police officer, providing a shield of protection that cannot be penetrated. I pray for those behind the hate crimes to be delivered from their selfish demonic ways. I pray for those who are doing the hate crimes to be delivered form their selfish demonic ways. I pray for a complete 180, each one who is associated in any way with the hate crimes and domestic terrorism to meet the Lord and give back four times what they stole like Zaccheus. I pray they would be the ones starting programs to help their community and support the police officers. It can be done but only by You. I ask for each one involved and supporting the hate crimes to see the wickedness of their ways, repent to God, and be a part of the restoration of all they have destroyed. I ask this in Jesus' name amen. Come Lord Jesus and release Your authority here on earth in the lives of Your people.
