Where Did I See That Before?

Warriors Arise: May 11, 2023

2 Timothy 1:5 (NKJV) when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Where did Paul see this genuine faith before? This genuine faith he is remembering about Timothy. Paul remembers the genuine faith Timothy demonstrates, because he first saw it in his grandmother and mother. He is reminding Timothy those who embraced faith in Jesus Christ and instilled it within him.

Paul had seen the genuine faith in Timothy's grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and every generation back, have the ability to pray forward into the generations to come faith in Jesus Christ, a faith that will be receptive to receive Him as their Savior and Lord.

Actually we don't even know if Timothy's grandmother and mother prayed for him; but for them to have genuine faith, I think it is safe to say they prayed. But they didnt' stop there. They demonstrated genuine faith. Paul remembers Timothy and while he is remembering him, there is something about Timothy that is reminding Paul of someone else. He is being reminded of the genuine faith of Timothy was first in his grandmother and mother. They demonstrate genuine faith and Timothy saw it first hand, in action. Since they demonstrated genuine faith, he was able to receive and move in genuine faith. We have to ask ourselves, "Am I demonstrating genuine faith to my children and grandchildren? Have I surrendered ground to the enemy? Have I trusted in others rather than God? Have I consistently put God first in my life? Is my faith genuine? Would someone say of me that I have genuine faith? Would God say I have genuine faith?

These are question I would encourage you to take into the presence of the Lord. If you want to make a difference in your children and grandchildren regarding their faith, your will have to be genuine, evident, and demonstrative. Is your faith genuine, evident, and demonstrative?

Father, I ask for You to search me. I want genuine faith. I am tired of giving ground to the enemy. It is time for him to go. It is time for me to occupy and take dominion in the land and sphere God has given me. I will grow my faith. It will be pure. I will follow expecting You to demonstrate Your love. I will not entertain doubt. I will embrace possibility, because You are able and You are willing. My children and grandchildren will know You, and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. They will see genuine faith demonstrated in my life and they will live their life in genuine faith in You, in Jesus' name amen.
