Warriors Arise: March 7, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:1-2 (NKJV) So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
I would have loved to have known what David said when he blessed the people.
Did David remind them of God's desire for them and His blessing?
Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Did David remind them of the instructions and blessing God gave to Abraham, the patriarch of their nation?
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father's house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Did David bless them with the instructions God gave Moses to give to Aaron?
Numbers 6:22-27 (NKJV) And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
Did David combine them, use all three or come up with his own? There are many blessings God has made sure to have written in the Bible. They are for all of us. I believe the Bible is living an active, applying to my life, for reproof, discipleship, growth in understanding of God and wisdom. I also believe God put the blessings in the Bible for you and I to receive, just like the people who were there hearing the words for the first time. We may never know what David said to bless the people. However, what we know is that David blessed God's people, the children of Israel, God's children, in the name of the Lord. This is big. To this day, Israelites have embraced and continue to speak forth blessing over every area in their lives. They believe in the importance of blessing each other which is clearly defined in Numbers 28:1-14.
We can get caught up thinking we can live without the blessing of the Lord upon our lives and we can; however, living without the blessing is choosing to live without the goodness of God. It takes our relationship to a works mentality and by faith hoping God is a part of "it" rather than faith and relationship empowering the works we are called to do. It is not living as God's child but an orphan who doesn't recognize they were chosen because of love to be in the family. God has made a point to bless His people throughout the Bible. We should study those blessings and implement them immediately.
Father, I lack the understanding of the blessings You have written in the Bible. I will study these and embrace them. I will release them into the lives of my husband, our children, our family and friends. I will release them to the passer-by and the God-opportunities You orchestrate. I desire to understand Your blessings, share them and speak them to have kingdom impact. I am missing out on Your blessing. Come and teach of Your blessing. I will be faithful to implement it into my life for Your kingdom advancement in Jesus' name amen.
