Warriors Arise: April 20, 2021
Daniel 6:21-23 (NKJV) 21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.” 23 Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.
The king has the stone removed and calls out to Daniel. To his surprise Daniel is alive! Remember his voice was lamenting, even though his heart wanted to believe and his legs carried in him haste, his voice betrayed him. But Daniel answers from within the lions' den. Daniel gives God's verdict on the accusation laid upon him. Who would argue with God? Certainly not the king.
Daniel had been saved from the lions. He was alive! This must be God. God sent His angels to save Daniel, to protect him. We do not know if the angels shared God's verdict on the matter or if it was self-explanatory. Daniel is alive after spending the night trapped with the lions.
Daniel shares how God protected him and why. God says Daniel is innocent. God says he didn't do anything wrong toward Darius. Darius wasn't going to argue with God. He recognized Daniel's God had saved his life from hungry lions for 12 hours.
Darius honored God enough to recognize His power to protect His own.
Darius respected the judgement of God.
Darius agreed with God's decision.
Darius acted upon God's intervention.
God had given Darius a way out of the predicament. Who would argue with God? God had just saved a man from hungry lions. What the king could not do, God did. Sometime we put our trust in man. We expect them to be our hero, our savior, our protector, our defense lawyer. But we need to be looking to God. He is the Just Judge. He will rule in favor of His people who serve Him continually day and night. However, He also looks for those who will follow His lead. God gave Darius a way out of the decree. Who would argue with the action of God? His actions speak for all to know exactly where He stood with what Daniel had done. Daniel was innocent. He had done nothing wrong toward the king. He did not pray to God to dishonor the king. He just wasn't going to honor the king above God. Daniel had the order correct and God backed him up.
Acts 5:29 (NKJV) But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
Once Darius heard God's declaration of Daniel's actions he responded in agreement. He was exceedingly glad. God had given Darius a way out of the decree. Who would argue with God?
Father, Oh to hear a word from You. I have carried accusation from the enemy for years. I had felt the bondage of slander and the imprisonment of the mob. But one word from You clears me from the slime of slander and restores my soul. One word from You breaks the shackles of accusation in my mind. One word from You flings open the door that has imprisoned me, the paralysis in my body. You restore me body, soul and spirit. I will not argue with You. I will agree with You. I will respond to Your words that bless me, release me, and restore me to Your calling upon my life. I will walk in the fullness of the freedom You provide for me. I will sit before You and hear what You have to say. I will hasten to where You are and be a part of the miracle at hand. I will seek You and be found by You for You are my God and there is no other. I will lift my voice and worship You. You have protected me in the darkness and called me into the light in Jesus' name amen.
