Cross Over part 21
Joshua 4:21-24 (NKJV) “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land’; 23 for the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over, 24 that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
I wonder why God positioned the children of Israel so He had to do a miracle. If they had camped on the southern side of Canaan they wouldn't have had to cross over the Jordan River at flood stage. Any time after the 40 years of wandering in the desert God could have brought the children of Israel into the land He promised them. Why did we wait until flood season? What message is God sending to the children of Israel? What message is He sending to the world?
I am baffled at the number of people who do not recognize God's power. Here is the danger in failing to recognize God's power; we live a powerless life. Because He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. As a Christian, I have Christ in me, the hope of glory. Jesus walked the earth defeating the works of the devil. Not one time did the devil defeat Jesus. Even on the cross the devil did not kill Jesus. On the cross Jesus gave up His spirit and said, "It is finished." There is not one time the devil defeated Jesus. The devil is not even a close second.
There are times when God is positioned to do the miraculous and demonstrate His power. Many times it is because we have forgotten the power of God. If we had remembered the power of God we would continue to believe He will intervene in our situation. We would not surrender our position nor our belief. We would not stop petitioning God and making our requests known because we know He is for us. We know His plan is for to prosper us. Our love for Him is demonstrated by our faithfulness to ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, and knock and keep on knocking.
We miss out when we want things to happen on our timetable. The problem with that mentality is that we forget time does not matter to God. He operates outside of time. When we set up a timetable for when God needs to do something and He doesn't we struggle to keep believing; therefore we give up, stop praying, and surrender our authority as God's ambassadors. When you are about to call it quits ask yourself, "Did God say it was over? Did people say it is over? Did I say it is over?"
These are three very important questions. Your answer reveals who you believe is the wisest?
Psalms 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
When we listen to God our mind is stayed on Him. He will give us give us life in the areas we are wilting. He will teach us His ways and we will walk in His power. Whatever God does will prosper. Thankfully, God "works" on us and we prosper when we receive what He is saying and operate according to His will.
God does the miraculous not just because He can but because we need to know He can. There are times and circumstances in our lives when we need God to demonstrate His power to remind us what He can do. There are times and circumstances when we need to know God is second to none. There is no lie that can change who God is. There is no deception that can stand up to the truth of who God is and what He can do.
God loves His people and sometimes He needs His people to be a part of His miracle so their hope is renewed, their faith is secure and their destiny is fulfilled. When God does the miraculous He wants not only His people to know Him, but the people of the world to see what they couldn't before.
Father, You are amazing! Your love abounds as You demonstrate Your power. You will intervene for Your people. There are times when we need to see Your involvement in our lives. You could have made things easy and smooth but then we do not recognize Your involvement. When You demonstrate Your power, You reveal Your love for us. You move the obstacles in the way. You open up the path and we walk through. We know You did this for us. I ask for You to move in a mighty way, for You to reveal the deeds done in darkness. I ask for You to reveal the truth and set the record straight. I ask for Your will to be done on earth at this time in the name of Jesus. You are God and there is no other. Your way is sure. Your timing is for the world to see You are God. You open the door when no one else can. I will prepare myself for the miraculous of Your demonstrative love and power to be released here in America in Jesus' name amen.
