Warriors Arise: April 27, 2021
Daniel 6:25 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.
Darius is reaching out to his entire kingdom, to everyone who is within his dominion, under his protection and rule. He will have Daniel's God known. He has seen the miraculous happen. What he couldn't do in his own power, Daniel's God was able to do. Darius hoped to prevent Daniel from being cast into the lions' den but to think that there is one God who could shut the mouths of the lions. This had to be mind boggling.
We tend to think in terms of what is humanly possible. But it is, beyond humanly possible, which it makes it a miracle. If we could accomplish the necessary task or change in our own power, in our own strength, in our own wisdom, then it wouldn't be a miracle.
A miracle is a supernatural happening. It happens beyond what is humanly possible. When we encounter the supernatural and do not acknowledge God's involvement we respond different ways:
"What a coincidence!"
"Serendipity!"
"Strange, don't you think?"
"How could that have happened?"
"No way!"
"Are you kidding me?!"
"Couldn't be!"
"Weird"
Oddly, we rarely want to really know how the miraculous happened. There is a reason for our lack of curiosity. It is not because we don't want to know how it happened, it's because we don't want to know "who" made it happen.
The miraculous happens because someone intervened. Why do we not want to know who that someone is?
Acts 9:1-5 (NKJV) Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
The miraculous happened to Saul. A light came from heaven and knocked him off of his horse. I think you have to read verse five with a pause. "Who are You? (Pause while Saul gets a clue. His mind is racing as he replays what happened in his mind. He still is unable to see so with his mind's eye he sees the light.) The only possible solution, "Lord?" Saul was heading fast in the wrong direction but God intervened. He did the miraculous. Saul came to his senses when he realized the miraculous and asked, "Lord?".
Darius is not afraid to tell the people who that someone is. Matter of fact, He decrees that everyone should know who the someone is as well as tremble and fear Him. Why? Because this someone has proven Himself to reach beyond human ability and cause the unthinkable to happen. That someone is God. There is only One and we are to tremble at His greatness and fear should come upon us when we go after one of His chosen.
Saul, in Acts 9, is going after God's people. He is wanting to beat and imprison all who believed the Christ had come and was crucified for our sins. He did not recognize the truth when Jesus was alive and all the miracles Jesus had done. But now, the hand of God came in like a bold of lightning and knocked him off of his high horse, causing him to tumble to the ground and loose his ability to see. In the end, Saul repents. He experienced the miraculous of God; like Darius witnessed the miraculous of God. Both of them spread the word unashamed of God's love and power for those who believe and honor Him.
Father, I want to see the miraculous. I am not asking for You to perform for me. I want to see Your hand at work to acknowledge Your love for Your people. I want to praise You for Your power to protect and strengthen Your people. I want to worship You for Your provision. When the enemy comes to discourage me I want to remember what You have done in my life and the lives those around me. I will testify of Your faithfulness. I want to share with others of how amazing You are. You are for Your people to achieve the dreams You have placed inside of them. You are for Your people to stand against the threats of the enemy. You are for Your people to seek You and know You. You are for Your people. We do not stand alone for You are with us. Open my eyes so I can see the works of Your hand, how you have intervened and provided in my life and for others. I will praise You all of the days of my life in Jesus' name amen.
