Warriors Arise: March 3, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:1 (NKJV) So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
There are times when we need to be prepared to give a peace offering. Honestly, I didn't really know what a peace offering meant. In Leviticus, God is clear on how each animal is to be prepared and it is offered by fire to the LORD. The burning of the blood and the fat were the offering to the Lord. The meat was given to the priest.
According to Strong's, "a peace offering was an optional sacrifice, which could be brought in conjunction with a confession or vow or simply as a freewill offering of gratitude. It consisted of a sacrificed animal, some of which was burned, some eaten by the priests, and some returned to the worshipper to eat. It was a festive offering, foreshadowing salvation (Acts 2:46)."
David made this a festive occasion. He led the country in worshipping God. It was a time of song and dance. Returning the ark of God to the tabernacle was a celebration to be enjoyed by all. David would sleep well that night because his mind would be at peace knowing God was back in His tabernacle among all His people.
The peace offering honored both God by the burning of the fat and cooking the blood out of the meat creating a sweet aroma to the Lord; but it also fed the priests and worshipers. The peace offering was and is a festive, celebration offering. The peace offering is given from the depth of a heart full of gratitude for all the Lord has done, is doing and will do.
Father, I am truly thankful for what You have brought me through. I have had some very difficult times and each one You have walked me through. You pulled me up, out of the muck and the mire. You set my feet on solid ground. You defeated my enemies and have lead me into triumph. You have provided for me and I will praise Your name. You are incredibly good to be. I know You will provide exactly what is needed. I will worship You and show my gratitude. I will give a peace offering with thankfulness and joy. You are my God and have always made a way when there is no way. I will trust You. I will celebrate You. I am grateful for all You have done. I look with wide eyes for what You are doing and anticipation for what You will do. I will give an offering of peace. When I remember all You have done, I am at peace that You continue to do amazing things in my life. I am grateful in Jesus' name amen.
