Will It Change You?

Warriors Arise: March 15, 2021

Daniel 6:10 (NKJV) Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

Daniel heard the news, he heard what King Darius had signed and he knew the consequences of defying the decree. Each of us have been in a situation, if not multiple situations, where we had a decision to make. This was one of the most important decisions in your life. What will you do when someone challenges your relationship with God?

  • Where they want you to be less involved in church.

  • Where they want to you not be so intense with Your testimony.

  • Where they want you to keep your faith to yourself.

  • Where they want you to not love God or people with such passion, purpose and hope.

  • Where they want you to stop praying.

  • Where they want you to keep your Bible at home.

  • Where they want to spurn your trust in God for the miraculous.

  • Where they want you to sing praises to money, dictators, and evil.

  • Where they only accept you when you abuse God's name as a cuss word.

  • Where they bring such fear you won't go to church and fellowship with believers but you will go out to eat, participating in entertainment outside of your home, vacations, and shopping.

Daniel knew about the decree and went home. He didn't go to the king. He didn't go to the governors and satraps. He didn't try to use his position. He knew the decree was already in place. He knew even if Darius wanted to change the decree, he could not.

Have you been in a position like this? Where you knew there wasn't anything you could do because the trap had been set and you were the bait. It wasn't if you got caught in the trap, it was when the trap would be sprung.

There comes a time when there isn't anything you can do to get yourself out of the situation. Either God is gong to step in or your meat for the devourer. What could Daniel do but continue as he had always done. He wasn't going to dishonor the only one who could get him out of this death trap. Daniel didn't allow the threat of death stop him from honoring God.

At the end fo verse 10, we find out Daniel didn't just go to God that particular day, after finding out about the decree. We find out Daniel from the early days in Babylon would go to his room three times a day, open the shutters, kneel, pray and give thanks to God. Daniel wasn't going to stop just because of the death threat on his life.

God would be the only one who could get him out of this alive so God is the one he went to. Daniel did not change anything. He found out about the decree, the death threat. He knew it was penned just for him. No one on earth could get him out of this.

  • Instead of getting angry, picking a fight with the governors and satraps,

  • Instead of going before the king to plead his case,

  • Instead of fleeing for his life,

  • Daniel chose not to allow this death threat to change him.

  • Daniel chose not to allow this death threat to steal from him.

  • Daniel chose not to allow this death threat to take from him the only thing that mattered.

  • Daniel faithfully sought God, the only one who could get him out of the trap that was about to take his life.

Will you let it change you?

Father, I ask for You to come and bring strength to my resolve. I want to serve You faithfully. Daniel prayed to You three times a day. He positioned himself before You. It explains why he is promoted, stands boldly in each position he has been given and fulfills each assignment God gives him. Before the trap is set, Daniel is already positioned. He knows Who to turn to. I do not want to take matters into my own hands. I do not want to look for a person to get me out of the enemy's trap. I look to You. I position myself before You. I seek Your face and listen to Your voice. You are my God and I will serve You. You lift me up and strengthen me in all You put into my hands. You settle my heart and focus my mind on You. I will praise You and give thanks for all You have done. I will make my questions known and thank You for all You have done and all You are doing. You are my God and I will not allow the plots of people to change who You have created me to be. i will love You. I will align myself with Your will for my life. I will hear Your voice and follow Your lead. I will know You and trust You in all things. You will pick me up and place me on high ground in Jesus' name amen.
