Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
I probably went half my life thinking it was wonderful counselor. I thought wonderful was an adjective referring to the counselor. I did not realize it read wonderful, counselor. This passage says His name will be called Wonderful… The Wonderful is capitalized like a proper name would be capitalized. Think of approaching Jesus and calling Him, Wonderful. Try speaking it out loud. Picture Jesus standing before you and then say out loud, "Wonderful."
So, I tried it and it made me have a little laugh. I said it a few times and my mind was thinking of Jesus, picturing Him and trying to call Him Wonderful. I recognized my tone changed as if I was telling somebody, "Wonderful" as an expression of they did a great job or celebrating int he new they were sharing. When I heard my tone change that is when I giggled. So I thought I would try again. "Wonderful."
Wonderful as written in Isaiah 9:6 is defined in Strong's as "miracle, marvelous thing, wonder." Think of calling Jesus, miracle. You are a miracle; therefore, I call You Miracle. Jesus, You are a marvelous thing and when you came to Earth You did marvelous things; therefore I call You, Marvelous. You are a wonder. You cause me to wonder. My mind is stretched when I think of You, meditate on Your Word and seek You for wisdom and understanding. I stand in wonder; therefore, I call You Wonder.
I am trying to wrap my mind around Jesus being called Wonderful as one of His many names. It takes it beyond what He does and prints it on His DNA as part of His very being. He is Wonderful.
When you close your eyes. think of Jesus and say "Wonderful" what comes over you?
Does anything shift in your mind?
Does anything awaken in your spirit?
Does anything grow in your faith?
Try it again. Close your eyes, think of Jesus and say, "Wonderful." Say it like you are calling to Him to get His attention. Say, "Wonderful", as easily as you say Jesus.
Something changes in me. Next time You call to Jesus, speak Wonderful. Wow! I just did it again! It totally fills me with faith for whatever I want to share with Him! Practice this over the next couple of days. Be familiar with the character of all Jesus is when you call Him Wonderful. It is as if you are calling to Him and saying, "Miracle." When you do that, does that give you hope? Does the chaos stop and peace instantly cut through to give you strength?
Father, I have never referred to Jesus calling Him by His name, Wonderful. I look forward to practicing this over the next couple of days. I ask for You to come and fill me with hope when I speak Wonderful. I look forward to my faith growing as I call to Wonderful. It is akward but so very good. It awakens me to more of Jesus, beyond what I already know and into an area, a part of Him I need to learn and honor. I will honor Jesus as Wonderful in Jesus' name amen.
