Warriors Arise: October 14, 2023
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
How does that verse go with the following? What is Jesus saying?
Matthew 10:34-39 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man's enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
Did Jesus come to bring peace on earth? Are you ready for the answer?
Did Jesus come to bring peace on earth? Yes and No.
How can I say that? Yes, He came to bring peace to those who will receive it. No, because those who choose not to receive His peace will choose to be divisive and argumentative. The peace He brought will cause those who reject it to respond with animosity. Since they did not chose to receive His peace, they don't want you to have it either. Therefore, those choosing to reject the peace Jesus offers will create the division within their relationships.
You wonder why you have controversy with others. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, declaring Him to be Your Savior and Lord, and then walking each day to imitate Him, there are going to be others who are doing completely the opposite of you. Everyone has a choice.
I have said this countless times, but it needs to be said again, especially in this context. Love is a choice. If God didn't give us a choice then it isn't love. When we choose God, we are choosing to love Him and receive what He offers us, the opportunities He provides for us, and the wisdom to grow in understanding Him. We when reject God, we miss out on the love we desire, the wisdom we attain to have and the opportunities we crave.
His love is amazing in all of the facets He offers us. It doesn't stop at Salvation. It begins at Salvation and then opens up into a whole new world of His amazing abundance for each one of us. He pours into every area of our life.
We are never alone.
We are never without Him.
He doesn't withhold any good thing from us.
He is for us and makes a way for us to prosper in all that we do.
He opens doors that others try to close.
He keeps the devourer from us.
He does the miraculous may times just because He can.
He doesn't just say that He loves us, He wrote it in blood and demonstrates His love for us every day.
Even though Jesus desires for each one of us to know Him as Lord and Savior, He knows we have a choice. No matter how painful it is for Him, He will not make the choice for us. He won't give up on us. He will continue to come after and pursue us through His love. Sometimes the pursuit of His love causes others to be angry. Angry people cause division. They want to be right even if deep down they know they are wrong. Pride will not allow them to yield and turn from their sinfulness. So, they try to pull others into the pit of pride with them. They would rather remain in their pride than to receive the peace and be in unity with their family and friends.
Father, I ask for You to come and continue to pursue Your people with peace. I pray their hearts would yield to You. I pray You would not give up on You people. I ask for You to intervene and continue to demonstrate Your love. Your peace is perfect. You patiently wait for each one to turn to You. I ask for You to reach my loved ones. I pray they would l first come into perfect peace and unity with You and then our relationship to be developed in Your peace in Jesus' name amen.
