Warriors Arise: December 3, 2022

Psalms 120:7 (NKJV) I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.

I searched and found verse 7 but I generally want to read the verses that surround what I have found to give me more clarity. When I backed up to read verse 6 I was surprised.

Psalm 120:6 My soul has dwelt too long

With one who hates peace.

I do not like conflict. Most of us can make that statement. Most of us also know people who really enjoy conflict. They seem like masters of the the ceremony of conflict. If there is peace, they can't seem to handle themselves properly; so they go and stir up a mess. After they have stirred the pot, they sit back and watch everyone else be all up in a tizzy about the nothing that the pot-stirrer started.

As we go into Christmas let's go with our eyes wide open. Let's determine to listen to the truth and ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom to identify those stirring the pot. Let's not be a part of the soup they are serving. Every problem that arises is not ours to fix. Most of us want the problems to be resolved; however, sometimes there isn't a problem until we try fixing something that isn't broken. The pot-stirrer pointed out something that wasn't anything. We need to recognize those who who hate peace. They are the ones who do not care about the truth. They care about causing everyone else to suffer at their pleasure. We need to be about peace and determine in our heart that we will not be used by the pot-stirrer to cause senseless dissension or strife or a disturbance of any kind. This doesn't mean that REAL problems shouldn't be dealt with. It means take a deep breath, ask the Holy Spirit what is true and move to resolve the conflict according to the Holy Spirit and not the pot-stirrer. What is the difference?

The Holy Spirit will lead you to do this in love and the conflict will have the best chance to get resolved. The pot-stirrer will provoke you to put your nose into a situation where it shouldn't be. The pot-stirrer will set you up to be the one causing the problem instead of resolving the problem. The pot-stirrer will not want to go with you but assure you it will be handled best if you do it. The Holy Spirit will go with you and will give you the words to resolve through peace.

Father, I desire to be a person of peace. I desire to walk with the Holy Spirit. My heart aches when there is conflict between people and I want everyone to get along. I desire for Your people to come together, honor Your lead and follow You. I realize we grow according to the time we spend with You and how much we allow You to speak to us, molding us and healing us from the wounds of others. I do not want to be a person of war nor do I want to align myself with people who are constantly needing to stir the pot and create conflict. I ask for You to come and give me wisdom. I do not want to engage in any conflict or problem unless You are leading me. I will be an instrument in Your hand and not in the hand of the pot-stirrer. I will walk in Your ways and honor You by extending grace and working through to forgive and be forgiven when You have brought it to my mind. I will honor You in Jesus' name amen.
