Warriors Arise: July 14, 2023
Matthew 3:16-17 (NKJV) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
God came to the celebration and brought a gift! Jesus, as man, was given the Holy Spirit. This was God's gift to Him. Jesus didn't take His diety with Him to earth. He left His power in heaven, because He had to be fully man. He had to be our sacrifice as one of us. However, it doesn't mean He couldn't be given power once He was here.
In front of everyone, God speaks words of affirmation and value to Jesus. He speaks directly to who He is. He is proud of Jesus for humbling Himself to be baptized. Just as John said, Jesus should be the one baptizing him, but Jesus didn't. Jesus humbled Himself and allowed John to baptize Him. God was overjoyed. He was incredibly proud of His Son. He gives a gift Jesus didn't ask for. However, it is a gift you and I can have as well. God gave this gift is to demonstrate what He desires to give each one of us. However, we have to ask for the gift.
Luke 11:13 (NKJV) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Father, today I ask for the Holy Spirit. You gave the Holy Spirit to Jesus because You knew He would need Holy Spirit in order to achieve what He came ot earth to do. You knew He was to demonstrate to us the power of Your love through the Holy Spirit over sickness, death, disease and demons. I am incredibly thankful You desire to give me the Holy Spirit. I need the Holy Spirit to be in my life. I need the Holy Spirit to guide, protect, counsel, comfort, and lead me in all truth. I am overwhelmingly thankful Jesus came to give me freedom from sin. I am thankful for Holy Spirit to be empowered to overcome the things of this world and be the victor over the enemy in Jesus' name amen.
