Warriors Arise: March 20, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:7-14 (NKJV) On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord:
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
10 Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
11 Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
13 O seed of Israel His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
14 He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
"Our God" is what stands out to me. David is trying to help the people embrace God as their God. He wants them to include God in their life, as their God not just his. I remember the Scripture when the former king, Saul, petitioned Samuel to join him in burning the sacrifices to the Lord, "your God." Saul specifically said, "Your God." Saul did not embrace God as his. David is trying to reintroduce God to His people and encourage His people to embrace God.
A few quick questions: Is God your God? Is He personally your God? What evidence supports your answer?
Father, I come before You, because I want our relationship to be more than You in heaven and me on earth. I want to know You. I want You to be my God. I want to be a part of what You are doing. My desire is to honor You with all that I do. My desire is to know Your ways and follow them. My desire is to make You known, the freedom You offer to all who know You as their God. You are my God and there is no other. I will walk with You and commune with You in Jesus' name amen.
